Last week, we celebrated the first anniversary of our accreditation as a Real Living Wage Employer, and what a year it’s been! We’ve seen a lot of changes in our business over the past couple of years, but our commitment to fair pay for everyone involved in the business has never wavered.
For us, joining the Real Living Wage movement was just the start of our commitment to conscientious and sustainable business. Since then, we’ve also joined the Good Business Charter, created an industry-leading inclusive benefits package, including pioneering leave policies for miscarriage or fertility treatment, expanded our team, launched our (living wage) apprenticeship programme, and even been nominated for some awards! Plus, we’ve got even more exciting changes in the pipeline for 2022, as we continue to grow.
For us, being a part of movements like RLW and GBC are about doing more than just the minimum. Our responsibility to provide fair pay, prompt payment and full transparency really does drive the heart of our company culture, and we’ve become enthusiastic advocates for the movement, encouraging our clients and suppliers to join the fightback against low pay and insecure work.
Last July, we expanded our marketing department, bringing in a new full-time team member, John. Here’s what he had to say about the accreditation:
“Knowing that the company was a Real Living Wage Employer and Good Business Charter accredited did make a difference when I applied. I think it says a lot about the values of the company that they put out a commitment to the GBC’s 10 principles, and it’s nice to know you’re working for a company where everyone is being paid and treated fairly.”
It’s always great to hear from our team about how these initiatives affect them, and we love that everyone in the business is as enthusiastic about the RLW as we are.
Last February, we were shortlisted as one of the best recruitment companies in the UK to work for, and Best Pay & Benefits Strategy at the Recruiter Investing In Talent Awards, and it was an honour to be recognised by the judges for these awards.
So it’s been a busy year for us as an accredited Real Living Wage employer, but we’ve loved the support provided by the Living Wage Foundation, and we’ve kept our commitment to fair pay at the heart of our business. We can’t wait to see what the next year brings!
