What you’ll be doing
- Deliver skilled assistance to surgeons during operative procedures across various surgical specialties.
- Undertake advanced intraoperative responsibilities including tissue retraction, haemostasis, wound exposure, camera holding, suction, and skin closure.
- Function as a scrub practitioner when required, maintaining aseptic technique and accountability for instruments, swabs, needles, and sharps.
- Participate in the World Health Organization (WHO) Surgical Safety Checklist and comply with National Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (NatSSIPs).
What we’re looking for
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or Registered Operating Department Practitioner with current HCPC registration.
- Recognised Surgical First Assistant qualification.
- Significant post-registration experience within the operating theatre environment.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.
