What you’ll be doing:
- Provide professional leadership and management across all theatres, endoscopy, and recovery services.
- Move beyond day-to-day operational scheduling to provide strategic oversight of theatre capacity, flow, and utilisation as a commercial asset.
- Work closely with the Commercial Director and Business Development Manager to align operational delivery with wider commercial and growth objectives.
- Oversee the development and growth of the endoscopy service, with responsibility for driving progress towards JAG accreditation.
- Support the organisation’s ambition to achieve AFPP accreditation, embedding standards and assurance frameworks.
- Act as the Medical Devices Safety Officer, ensuring the safe and compliant management of all medical devices across the organisation, working closely with the Procurement Manager.
- Positively challengs and influence consultant behaviour to ensure accountability for theatre lists, forward planning, and consistent utilisation of allocated sessions.
- Maintain strong, credible relationships with senior consultants and stakeholders.
- Contribute to ongoing service transformation, including changes to critical care and surgical service structures.
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified RN (with current NMC registration) or Qualified Operating Department Practitioner (with current HPC registration).
- Significant senior experience in a multi-theatre environment supporting complex surgical case loads at scale.
- Strong track record in driving theatre utilisation, operational performance, and service efficiency in a private healthcare setting.
- Experience of delivering or leading services through JAG and/or AFPP accreditation processes.
- Demonstrable commercial awareness, with the ability to link operational delivery directly to revenue, efficiency, and opportunity cost.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to balance diplomacy with firm performance management.
- Strong understanding of private healthcare dynamics, including consultant behaviour, multi-site working, and variable theatre scheduling patterns.
- Experience in quality improvement, audit, governance, and patient safety, with a strong clinical leadership background.
