Winter Warmers: Bringing Comfort When It’s Needed Most

 

 

As we reach the final quarter of our annual charity programme, we’re proud to introduce our Winter initiative, the “Winter Warmers” Drive. Building on the momentum of our previous three initiatives, this final phase focuses on caring and comfort during the coldest months of the year.

 

A Year of Seasonal Giving

 

Our charity initiative is structured around the four seasons, allowing us to support different causes in York throughout the year while remaining mindful of the realities faced by small, independent businesses.

 

This has allowed us to spread our efforts across this year, maintaining consistency and meaningful support for our local communities in a way that’s both sustainable and inclusive.  

 

The “Winter Warmers” Drive: Caring and Comfort

 

Winter can be an especially difficult time for individuals and families facing hardship. Cold weather can intensify existing challenges, making warmth and protection not just a comfort, but a necessity.

 

Through our Winter Warmers Drive, we’re collecting scarves, coats, gloves and hats to help provide warmth and reassurance to those who need it most. These items offer more than physical warmth; they represent care, dignity and the knowledge that someone is thinking of you during a difficult season.

 

If you’re close to the York area, we’d love for you to get involved! You can drop donations off at our York office: Wizu | East Coast House, 25 Skeldergate, York, YO1.

 

To ensure donations are safe and appropriate for those receiving them, we kindly ask that contributions do not include cleaning products, medications (such as paracetamol or ibuprofen) or razors. The deadline for donations is the 1^st of March.

 

Why Physical Donations Matter

 

As with our other seasonal initiatives, our Winter drive focuses on physical donations rather than monetary contributions. This approach removes financial pressure and allows more people to get involved in a meaningful, hands-on way.

From Fresh Start to Share the Sunshine, through to Harvest of Hope and now Winter Warmers, this programme has shown what’s possible when people come together with purpose.
