Our Trip to Burnsall

1st August is Yorkshire Day – a yearly celebration to promote the historic county of Yorkshire. Yorkshire is known for many things, from its food and drink, which play a significant role in its cultural heritage (who doesn’t love a Yorkshire pudding!), to its friendly and down-to-earth locals. However, the county is arguably most known for its beautiful scenery and landscapes!

For us Yorkshire Day has symbolic importance, it represents the end and start of our financial year! In true Yorkshire style, last week our team enjoyed an all-expenses paid trip set around the banks of the River Wharfe in the stunning village of Burnsall. Inspiring walks, delicious food, and wholesome fun!

We began the day with a walk along the river and amongst the hills, breathing in the fresh air and stretching our legs after a year of hard work. The halfway point was conveniently positioned for lunch at The Craven Arms and Cruck Barn, its heather thatched roof and soaring oak trusswork with artisan dishes made and cooked to order with locally sourced produce makes this an unmissable pub! We recommend the steak and ale Pie!

Wearing flat caps and with full bellies, we continued our walk across rolling fields and farms returning to our hotel, The Red Lion & Manor House | Burnsall | North Yorkshire, where we enjoyed an afternoon outside under canvass playing board games and absorbing the gorgeous views of the village bridge and surrounding valley.

To finish off the day, nestled on a hillside overlooking the beautiful dales we enjoyed a delicious meal at The Devonshire Fell Hotel at Burnsall | Devonshire Hotels.  With two AA Rosettes and a reputation for innovative food and elegant surroundings, The Fell Restaurant is an experience to savour.

It was a lovely and deserved night away. Thank you, Joanna!
