Alisha's Internship Experience

More Than Just an Internship: My Experience at Stroud Resourcing

When I started my Sales & Marketing Internship at Stroud Resourcing, I expected to gain some hands-on experience, learn more about the Private Healthcare Recruitment industry and build a few skills along the way. What I didn’t expect was to be welcomed into such a genuinely caring and supportive environment, one where I truly felt like part of the team from day one.

This internship has given me much more than a professional experience; it’s given me a new standard for what a positive workplace culture can and should look like.

1. A Culture of Care

From the very first day, it was evident that this wasn’t just a workplace, it was a community. Every single person made the time to get to know me, ask how I was settling in and offer help whenever needed. This openness and caring communication was apparent throughout the entirety of my internship.

2. Mentorship that Makes a Difference

I started with a limited knowledge of both Private Healthcare and Recruitment. Initially, this was something I was apprehensive of however, the time invested in my training by Joanna eased my worries almost immediately.  One of the things I greatly appreciated most was that questions were always encouraged, no matter how small. I never felt like I was ‘just an intern’.

Equally, mistakes weren’t something to be afraid of. Instead, they were seen as part of the learning process. This mindset gave me the confidence to try new things, take initiative and grow throughout my time here.

3. Growth, Learning & Real Responsibility

Even though I was here on a short-term basis, I was trusted with real projects and encouraged to take ownership of my work. This opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the team from working on real marketing projects, contributing my ideas in meetings and so forth, encouraged me to share my thoughts and step outside my comfort zones.

I’ve developed new skills, learned how a fast-paced recruitment business operates and gained insights into how marketing supports wider business goals. This is all thanks to the trust and support I was given here.

4. Feeling Included & Valued from Day One

Inside and outside the office, I felt included in the company culture. I was invited to meetings, involved in projects and encouraged to attend the social events. Whether it was a picnic, team lunches or a trip to a Vineyard, I always felt welcomed and part of the group. These moments outside of day-to-day work made it so much easier to build relationships and feel connected to the team. It really showed me that Stroud Resourcing values people not just for what they do, but for who they are.

5. Why This Experience Mattered

As I move forward in my career, I’ll always remember how this internship helped shape my professional mindset. Whether you’re a future employee or intern, I can confidently say you’ll be in great hands here. The culture, people and values at Stroud Resourcing have set the bar high for what a workplace can be.
