What will the future of Infection Control look like?

Infection control is one of the most vital concerns of any healthcare facility. In 1999 an industry wide conversation was started as to the possibility of eliminating hospital infections entirely. I speak with some brilliant people every week who develop, manufacture and sell the innovative products that bring us closer to this goal. One thing which many of them enjoy is the diversity of their customer base.

Today the role of the infection control nurse is under increasing pressure with issues in recruitment and retention as the function of infection prevention is increasingly fulfilled by laboratory technicians, pharmacists etc. It is important for the wider industry to be aware of this shift and be prepared for a future where the end user could be any one of a growing range of healthcare professionals.
